Second Biggest

Seen before:3,293 times

This tree in the Waipoua forest in Northland New Zealand is the second biggest kauri. It’s called Te Matua Ngahere – Father of the Forest. It has a stouter body than the biggest: Tāne Mahuta – God of the Forest.

They might be giant trees but they don’t like people walking on their roots. Visitors have to approach them on springy boardwalks.
